Lanyang Foods, which has been deeply involved in the frozen prepared food industry for 40 years, held the "Lanyang Foods 40th Anniversary and New Book Release Thanksgiving Tea Party" at the Lize Industrial Zone of the Lanyang Foods Yilan Factory on December 20. This is not only the 40th anniversary of Lanyang Foods, but also the 40 years of witnessing the evolution of Taiwan's instant food culture. In the 1980s, Dihua Street was a prosperous scene of southern and northern goods, and jellyfish skin was a delicacy in major restaurants at that time. It was the founder of Lanyang Foods, Lu Gentian, who first brought the delicious seafood to the public in the form of instant prepared food packages. Under his leadership of the team's unremitting research and development and hard work, a variety of instant cooking packages were born. Today, the microwave packaging boxes seen in convenience stores and the personal cooking packages seen in supermarkets also have traces of Lanyang Foods behind them.
The tea party was hosted by founder Lu Gentian and general manager He Ming'e, and also featured distinguished guests from the food industry, education, and cultural publishing circles. In addition to showcasing the important milestones of Lan Yang Foods over the past 40 years, founder Lu Gentian also spoke from his own experience as the protagonist of the book "Rooted in Lan Tian" to guide readers to understand the history of Taiwan's frozen instant prepared food industry, and to take a peek at Taiwan's development from the agricultural era to the current AI technology era.
Founder Lu Gentian recalled the opportunity to start a business. Born into a farming family and with a simple and honest personality, he worked hard and went to the fields to participate in his family's farming work at the age of five or six. He understood the hardships of farming the best, and therefore had the idea of starting a business. The starting point for the initial business was just a small warehouse, located in an alley that even trucks could not drive into. The current general manager, Lu's wife, He Ming'e, had just graduated from business school and came to Taipei to find a job. When she came here, she thought she had come to the wrong place. But from such a small and inconspicuous starting point, Lu Gentian and his wife have grown and prospered, starting from the Taiwan market and expanding to more than 30 countries overseas. In accordance with the sustainable trend of the times, they have transformed into vegetarian prepared foods, not only developing a variety of vegetarian dishes and expanding independent vegetarian factories to supply major chain catering channels, they have written many milestones in Taiwan's ready-to-eat food industry.
As his business became successful, the founder Lu Gentian still cared about his hometown of Yilan. He never forgot his roots. In addition to the company name representing his hometown Lanyang (Lanyang), he also chose to build three factories near the village where he was born in the future. He also thanked the noble people who helped and cared for him when he first started his business. Therefore, "Take from society and give back to society, and be grateful." has become Lu Gentian's motto, and he has also personally devoted himself to public welfare, including the launch of the Goodwill Communication Restoration Association, the 921 earthquake, the Ganesha flood, and the 2020 COVID-19 epidemic support medical care activities. The book "Rooted in Lantian" enriches the 40-year history of Lanyang Food. The 40 years of Lanyang Food are also the 40 years of Taiwan's successful transformation from agriculture to a modern industrial and commercial society.
